The Shields Brace will control the patella during athletic competition. It successfully controls malalignments of glide, medial/lateral tilt, and anterior/posterior tilt. Dynamic patella stabilization is provided through entire range of motion. The buttress features a Spectron non-slip surface maintaining its positioning with the patella. Medial and lateral spiral stays limit bunching, while allowing full range of motion. Independent calf and thigh strap application is ideal for most leg contours.

Application Instructions for the Shields Knee Brace
 
  Use the popliteal opening as a guide.

  Position the brace under the knee with the straps located laterally.

*Note: Reverse direction of application for patients with medial patellar subluxation.		  
 
 
  Wrap the bottom strap securely around the calf.
2a. Wrap the bottom strap securely around the calf.		  
 
 
  Ensure that the patella is centrally located.
2b. And the top strap around the thigh. (Note: Ensure that the patella is centrally located). A large "D" shaped window should be apparent around the patella area.		  
 
 
  Place the u-shaped buttress, hook side up, directly against the patella.
3. Place the u-shaped buttress, hook side up, directly against the patella.		  
 
 
  Press the buttress against the patella with one hand.
4a. Press the buttress against the patella with one hand. Pull the lower flap across the buttress and adhere the end of the flap to the medial side of the brace.		  
 
 
  Switch hands while continuing to apply pressure to the buttress, outside of the flap.

  Pull the upper flap across the buttress and adhere the end to the medial side of the brace.
